If there were such a thing as a Utopia, what would it be like? I have recently been reading The Giver, and it is about a boy who grows up into a community of perfection and sameness. think about it. No crime, no prejudice, no wars. Sounds amazing right? With a utopia though, things must be sacrificed. In his world there is also no color, emotions (including love, happiness, and joy) or animals. What kind of perfect world is that? If you think about it though, the people who have grown up there do not know there ever were such things as color, animals, and the sun.
Perhaps what would it be like if you were to create your own utopia? Mine would be carefully considered, and would be a community where everyone is equal. Therefore every one's job is just as important as the others. For example, the trash man(in the eyes of the community). Also schooling would be made enjoyable by putting learning into everyday problems that one might face as a citizen. There would be emotion, but to only a certain amount. For example, you could be angry with your neighbor, but it would not be mentally possible to be furious at him.
There comes many problems with building a utopia though. For example, why should humans not be able to enjoy complete bliss? Would it be better to feel no emotion at all? Would it be better to not have human connection (mentally and physically) to reduce the spread of illness and vexation? If someone has never seen color before, what difference will it make whether someone is black or white? It is utterly impossible for anyone but God to create a perfect utopia.
